Which requirement controls the work?
Electrical projects can be governed by several layers at the same time. Landmark evaluates the applicable combination rather than relying on a single article number.

Michigan's current electrical code
Michigan LARA currently identifies the 2023 National Electrical Code as the state electrical code, effective March 12, 2024, together with Michigan Part 8 amendments. A later NEC edition does not govern Michigan work merely because it has been published; state adoption and local enforcement timing matter.

Does every older electrical installation have to meet today's code?
Not automatically. Existing installations, repairs, replacements and alterations can be treated differently. The applicable requirement depends on the existing condition, work scope, adopted code and local authority. Unsafe conditions should still be evaluated promptly.
Can Landmark publish the complete NEC on this site?
No. The National Electrical Code is copyrighted. Landmark paraphrases practical implications, cites relevant articles or sections and links to official NFPA and Michigan sources.
Who has final authority on a permitted installation?
The authority having jurisdiction enforces and interprets the adopted code for the project. Utility requirements, product listings and manufacturer instructions may also apply to portions of the installation.
