Emergency Electrician

Emergency Electrician

Electrical emergencies require two decisions in the right order: protect people from the immediate hazard, then determine what must be isolated, repaired or coordinated before power can be used safely. Landmark Electric provides 24/7 emergency and after-hours response throughout its Metro Detroit service area.

Call 911 first for fire, active smoke or immediate danger

Leave the home and call 911 when there is fire, active smoke, an explosion or another immediate threat to people. Do not remain inside to investigate electrical equipment or retrieve belongings.

Stay at least 25 feet from a downed power line, anything touching it and any nearby wet ground. Assume the line is energized and report it to 911 and the utility. Landmark can address customer-owned equipment after the scene and utility connection are safe for electrical work.

Emergency Electrician options

Choose the focused service that matches the repair, installation, inspection or planning need. Each page contains 6–9 or more specific services and explains its own scope, hazards, project variables, process and related options.

Flexible payment options

Unexpected electrical work may still have a payment option.

Landmark works with independent finance companies to offer qualified customers a range of payment-plan options. Review the available providers and continue through the provider you choose.

Conditions that justify urgent electrical help

Not every electrical problem requires an after-hours visit, but warning signs involving heat, arcing, damaged service equipment or unstable power should not be left to chance. Describe exactly what you see, hear and smell when you call so the response can be prioritized correctly.

  • Burning or hot-plastic odor associated with wiring, a panel, outlet or appliance connection
  • Sparking, crackling, buzzing, visible arcing or smoke from electrical equipment
  • A hot or discolored panel, breaker, receptacle, switch or connection point
  • Complete or partial power loss that is not explained by a reported utility outage
  • Lights becoming unusually bright and dim, especially as other loads turn on
  • A main breaker that will not reset or customer-owned service equipment that is damaged, wet or pulled away

What Landmark's emergency response is designed to accomplish

The first goal is to identify the source and reduce the immediate risk. The electrician evaluates the accessible panel, service equipment, affected circuits and reported symptoms, then separates utility-side conditions from customer-owned electrical work.

The visit may result in a permanent repair, isolation of unsafe equipment, temporary stabilization, utility coordination or a written plan for work that requires materials, a permit, inspection or daylight access. Restoration is never promised before the condition and ownership boundary are known.

Clear scope and pricing during an urgent call

Landmark explains the applicable dispatch, evaluation and after-hours charges before the visit is accepted. After the condition is evaluated, you receive clear options for approved work whenever circumstances allow.

Emergency response does not authorize work on utility-owned equipment, conceal damage or bypass required protection. Any remaining limitation, disconnected circuit or follow-up requirement is identified before the electrician leaves.

Codes and standards that apply

These references explain the framework for this work. The adopted code, Michigan amendments, local authority, utility rules, equipment listings and manufacturer instructions must be considered together for the actual installation.

Frequently asked questions

What does 24/7 emergency electrical service mean?

Landmark accepts calls for urgent electrical hazards and power-loss conditions at any time. Actual arrival and restoration depend on technician availability, travel conditions, utility access, the nature of the hazard and any materials or approvals required.

Should I keep resetting a breaker that will not stay on?

No. A breaker that trips again may be responding to an overload, short circuit, ground fault, damaged equipment or a connection problem. Leave it off and have the cause evaluated.

Can an emergency electrician restore every outage during the first visit?

No. A utility outage, unsafe service equipment, water or fire damage, unavailable replacement parts, permit requirements or a condition needing broader work can prevent immediate restoration. Landmark will explain what can be made safe and what must happen next.

When safety cannot wait

Burning odors, visible smoke, active arcing, warm or buzzing breakers, damaged service equipment and partial power can signal a serious hazard. If there is fire or active smoke, leave the area and call 911. Otherwise, avoid touching the affected equipment and call Landmark for urgent electrical help.

What your service visit includes

Your $79 dispatch and evaluation charge covers sending an electrical professional to your property and the initial on-site evaluation. During that evaluation, the electrician examines the relevant accessible system, shows or explains the supported findings and identifies the cause when the available evidence reasonably allows. Clear, flat-rate options are presented before approved work begins, and the charge is waived when you proceed with approved work during the visit. Any special access, extended diagnosis, permit or after-hours considerations are explained before work moves forward.

Local. Licensed. Ready.
